This one has been one the back burner for quite a long while, but it is great to see it out.  This little piece also happens to be the first bit of writing I have ever had published.  It was a late fall trip with Wesley McCain which turned out to be absolutely gorgeous and filled with rich fall colors and crisp nights.  As a funny side note we actually ended up getting off route and onto Der Sportsman for a while, we couldn’t resist this perfect corner crack, it just lured us in.  None the less, an amazing climb in an even more amazing setting.  A must, must do.

Mount Rainier | Fuhrer Finger Ski Descent

Last week Joe Hamman, Dave Hancock and myself started skinning up Mount Rainier at 12:30am and @ 5pm the same day we saw ourselves back at the car after a successful climb up and down Mount Rainier.  Pretty incredible to ski down from 14,400 feet through glaciated and crevassed terrain to 5,000 feet in less than 2 hours.  Nearly all of the descent was in perfect spring corn.   Great day.

Red Rocks | Video

After spending a chunk of time watching you tube videos, downloading tutorials off of Lynda.com and some trial and error I was finally able to put together a video that shows off some of the experiences that were had while in Red Rocks, NV this past May.  There are hardly any climbing clips in the video because that was typically when I was snapping still frames.  I bought the Nikon D3s one week prior to heading out for this trip, so it was my first dabble into the new world of HD video on a Digital SLR.  I did not have any of the stabilizers, external screens and other gadgets that take videos to the next level.  I have much more to learn (and buy), but I see so much potential in this new medium.

The Great Outdoors Photo Contest | Finalist

I just got word that the image below is in the final selection process of the Great Outdoors Photo Contest.  Pretty exciting.  We should know the results in a few weeks.
