Driving HWY 1 up the coast of California is one of the quintessential experiences of Western American culture. So after the Neah Bay surfing trip earlier this summer, Bridget and I realized we didn’t have concrete plans for the month of November and figured this would be a great way to see the coast and learn to surf along the way. Our plan was to start in San Diego after Zion, find used wetsuits and surfboards then stop at beaches to surf while visiting with friends, family and clients on our way up the coast until the rain really started and winter became the new reality. I didn’t really have a game plan for photos and this was more of a personal journey than anything else, the calm before the winter storm. So below doesn’t really tell much of a storyline they are just random moments along our journey North. Enjoy and if you ever get the opportunity to take a 3-4 weeks and drive HWY 1…do it.

Garrett…you are truly a gifted photographer! These photos are incredible! Thank you for sharing them on your blog. What a journey you must be having!
Inspirational once again man, jealous of your trip!
