Oh Canada!

Bridget and I headed up north for a week in order to get away and explore a few places we had never seen before.  The trails and hikes we went on were entirely based upon recommendations from our Canadian friends Ryan Creary and Rich Wheater, we figured locals know best eh?  Their recommendations did not disappoint.  Amazing trails, views, people and towns.  I apologize in advance but since it was just us two you will notice a lot of repetition of the “models” in the photos…

The Alaska/Canada Road Trip

A fun, personal 5 day trip.  I flew up to Skagway, AK and drove back down to Bellingham, WA with two good friends.  I had not been back to Skagway since Bridget and I lived there nearly 4 summers ago.  It was definitely nostalgic and fun to be back in that very small community.  The entire time I was on this trip I found myself photographing with much more of a conceptual drive.  Maybe it was because there wasn’t any climbing, skiing or activities of that sort involved.  I also came back with a few hours of video footage that should be put into a small clip in the next few weeks.

Contest | Finalist in PDN & NG Traveler Great Outdoors

More exciting news.  Just received confirmation of being a finalist in the PDN and National Geographic Great Outdoors contest.  It was the first contest I have ever entered so this is definitely an encouraging result.  Once again it is skier Jeff Campbell making a gorgeous turn in Mount Bakers amazing backcountry.

It is well worth your time to go over and view the rest of the winners and finalists, you will find a lot of very inspiring work.  Click here to see the winners gallery.

Published | Scarpa Winter Ski Catalog

This was some fun news to receive, the opening double page spread of the 2010/11 Scarpa Ski Catalog!  It is the picture on the right of telemarker Jeff Campbell in the Mount Baker backcountry.

A Few More Video “Shorts”

A few more “shorts”. These have been a good and easy way to start learning some of the processing that goes behind a video. After all, repetition and practice makes perfect. For me this is all taking place in Final Cut, what an amazing and huge program. It seems that there are infinite possibilities and I am merely touching the tip of the iceberg.
